“All About Seduction” by Katy Madison – A Story of Betrayal

I thought this story was interesting.  It was definitely something that I hadn’t read before, or hadn’t read in a while.  Caroline has been married for 15 years to a significantly older man.  She knows he is not well, and she is running the mill he owns, thinking that she will get to run it when he dies.

However, her husband has a different idea.  He wants a child, preferably a son, and he wants it NOW.  Unfortunately, Caroline is his 3rd wife, and he hasn’t had a child by any of his wives. So his brilliant plan is to invite a number of younger gentlemen to their home and force her to pick a lover from among them.  She will then have to become pregnant by the fortunate man in order to receive anything from him when he dies.

The companion plot within this book is Jack’s.  Jack is a mill worker, and his family has worked at the mill for years.  He has managed to save his money to try and advance himself by getting job in London.  He has admired Caroline from a distance, and wants to prove that he can make himself worthy for her in the future.  She doesn’t know anything of this.

The story takes some twists and turns, some expected, some not so much. There were times I cried as hopes were dashed, or a betrayal was exposed. The romance isn’t very explicit, and the intimate scenes don’t start until most of the way through the story.
